Bev’s big Wembley hope

wd2087999beverley-knight-i.jpgRecording pressures have meant Wolves-mad soul star Beverley Knight has not been to her beloved Molineux this season – but she is still hoping to see her favourite team at another ground.

“Wembley is about 20 minutes from my house so if Wolves make it there so will I,” she told the Express & Star today. The former pupil at Woodfield Infant and Junior Schools before moving to Highfields Secondary School in Penn, saw Wolves go up in 2003.

Talking of that special day in Cardiff, she said: “The atmosphere was brilliant and we played so well. I’m really excited about getting to the play-offs again.

“I think we’ll do it too and probably meet West Brom in the final. That would be amazing.

“I’m gutted I haven’t been able to go to Molineux this season but you can blame the new album for that.”

Her latest offering Music City Soul was recorded live in Nashville and the 34-year-old, who grew up in Penn Fields, said she was delighted with the sound.

Wolves are now set to meet their arch rivals twice before one of the teams claims a £50 million promotion pot of gold.

Two second-half goals against QPR delighted the Molineux faithful on Saturday afternoon. While the Baggies, not to be outdone, took more than 6,400 supporters to Coventry for a 1-0 victory.

The dual successes mean this Sunday will be one of the biggest days in the history of both clubs.

They will meet in the semi-final of the play-offs if they can defeat Barnsley and Leicester respectively.

MIllions of pounds in TV revenue will flood into the victorious club.

Businesses expect to feel the impact as the economy benefits from the feel good factor of having a club in the top flight.

Civic leaders hope Premiership status will attract new investment to the area.
