Sodje winning his fight

The on-loan Reading defender missed Monday’s defeat at Burnley with an ankle injury.

But boss Tony Mowbray is confident of the 27-year-old will be available to face the Sky Blues on Albion’s first ever visit to the Rocoh Arena.

“I think we’re OK on the injury front,” said Mowbray. “Sodje trained yesterday which is a big positive for us.

“I anticipate Sam will be fit for Saturday – he’s had no reaction in training so he should be ready to start on Saturday if he’s called upon.”

Striker Sherjill MacDonald also got through training unscathed.

He returned from minor knee surgery and could be a candidate for a place on the bench.

“Sherjill looked very, very sharp,” added the Baggies boss. “He’s been with the physio for the last three or four days and was back with us yesterday – he looked good.

“Will Saturday be too soon? I don’t know – he could more than sit on the bench and give us half an hour or so, although I haven’t named my 16 yet.”

Mowbray is also pleased with the progress of club captain Curtis Davies in his quest to recover from a broken foot, but is refusing to be drawn on the England under-21 international’s chances of making the play-offs.

“I would suggest Curtis is progressing as well as the medical department would have wanted,” he said.

“He’s progressing fine, got a smile on his face.”
