Transport firm racing ahead
Tuesday 24th April 2007, 11:45AM BST.
A Black Country transport firm has been named in the top 100 in the country of the fastest growing companies.
Keltruck, of West Bromwich, has been named 63rd in the 100 list of private companies with the fastest growing profits.
The company, founded in the town in 1983 by Chris Kelly, was added to the list drawn up by the Sunday Times PricewaterhouseCoopers Profit Track 100 league table.
Mr Kelly, chairman and managing director, said: “This is a great result for the company and a reflection of the efforts of a superb workforce who have made it possible.”
Last year was a bumper year for the firm with record sales of 1,665 new and used heavyvehicles. The firm opened a new specialist services division for trailers and tail lift users and also launched new paint facilities for repairs and the relocation and expansion of the company’s Willenhall depot.
The company is currently building a new service centre for long, articulated “bendy buses” at its six acre headquarters on junction 1 of the M5 at West Bromwich.
Mr Kelly added: “The Midlands is certainly leading the UK in terms of transport and logistics – with so many additional major developments in the pipeline we are looking forward to further growth.”
