Talking sign to tick off youths

Troublemakers in Kidderminster are set for a rude awakening with a stern telling off by a talking sign.
Five devices have been erected in strategic places across the town to combat anti-social behaviour and deter crime.
One of the signs has been installed at ‘Piggy Alley’ near Birchen Coppice Middle School following complaints from residents about anti-social behaviour.
Youths regularly congregate in the alley but every time they meet in their favourite spot they will now be hit with a recorded message, saying: “Police warning. Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated in this area.”
The machine is activated when somebody walks past an infra-red sensor.
Talking signs have also been installed at Bromsgrove Street car park and the Weaver’s Wharf retail park, warning motorists to lock their vehicles and ensure valuables are not left on display.
And a sign at the junction of Blackwell Street and Coventry Street warns shoppers to keep all bags, wallets and purses secure.
Kidderminster police inspector Paul Crowley said: “The solar-powered signs can be adapted to deliver a variety of messages aimed at combating issues relating to a particular locality.”

I was talking to some one the other day who said that these signs can also be purchased from a company called reward manufacturing in Yorkshire. Our local police force has purchased some and have reduced crime. excellent idea for watch N/Hood watch schemes etc.
