Mother dies after car crash

A Stafford mother-of-two has died in hospital four days after a car crash at an accident blackspot near the town.

Mandy McMahon, 45, of New Road, Hixon, died at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire on Wednesday night from injuries suffered in the two-car smash at Weston on Saturday night.

Mrs McMahon was the driver and sole occupant of a blue Rover 45 travelling towards Weston village from the direction of Stafford.

Her car collided with a silver Ford Galaxy containing four occupants who were also injured in the crash which happened at 11pm on the A518.

A person from the Ford Galaxy remains at Staffordshire General Hospital with hip injuries.

Mrs McMahon had sustained serious neck injuries during the crash

Police are investigating the crash and have made two appeals for witnesses.

Sergeant Alison Kent, of Stone Police, said: “A further appeal for witnesses is being made in relation to the collision which occurred at 11pm on April 11 on the A518 at Weston. Officers are asking anyone who may be able to assist with enquiries to contact Pc Richard Borgman at Stone Police on 08453 302010.”
