D-day on travellers’ rubbish
Tuesday 3rd April 2007, 8:00PM BST.
Property developers now have just a day to clear up a Wolverhampton fuel stop site left “absolutely devastated” by travellers, despite previously being told they have a month.
It is the latest blow to Insa Property, who have been left footing the bill for the mess left behind at the former petrol station in Birmingham New Road, which is set to be demolished and transformed with a housing development.
Council bosses had initially given Insa Property an enforcement notice meaning they had until April 30 to carry out the clean-up operation, expected to cost up to £10,000.
But Environmental Chiefs have now stepped in and put down a new order giving them until just tomorrow.
The former filling station and three adjacent derelict bungalows are still a scene of devastation more than a fortnight after a dozen caravans were kicked off with a court order.
Insa is hoping to create a 24-home development on the site, and said it was reluctant to shell out thousands of pounds to clean up after the travellers until Wolverhampton City Council approved a planning application.
But if they don’t act to clean up the mess by tomorrow, the council can now move on to the site to carry out the work – and send bosses the bill.

So, if the so-called ‘travellers’ came into my garden and trashed it, what could I do to stop them?

why dont these travellers get prosecuted for this, they seem to be beyond the law, their homes should not be allowed to move untill they have cleaned up their mess.
