police.jpgPolice arrested 13 people in a crackdown on public disorder in Kidderminster and Stourport and will continue to operate a ‘zero tolerance’ campaign.

The arrests were made at the weekend for assault and public disorder and much of the trouble focused on the area around Kidderminster’s main nightspots.

All the arrests took place on Saturday night or the early hours of Sunday morning.

They included four for various public order offences such as using threatening and abusive language in Green Street and New Street, Kidderminster.

There were four for being drunk and disorderly in Kidderminster, three on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm following an assault and another for affray in Dixon Street.

Another person was arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated assault at a pub in York Street, Stourport.

Seven have been charged with offences ranging from being drunk and disorderly to assault and affray. Four have been given police bail pending further enquiries and two issued with fixed penalty notices.

North Worcestershire police chief Inspector Jim Baker today said: “Traditionally it is busy in the district over the Easter Bank Holiday and again we will be targeting our resources on key locations at key times.”
