Flo Pearcey was born on March 7, 1905 in Rowley Hills.

She now lives in Kates Hill and, although forced to celebrate her birthday in hospital, was planning to get out and about again as soon as possible.

One of her favourite places to visit is the former British Legion Club she used to run in Dudley.

She said:“I go to the club every Saturday and Sunday to see my friends and to enjoy a game of bingo and six card.

“My friends at the club are golden and I really enjoy their company.”

Flo, who has one daughter, June, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, said she was delighted to see them all on her birthday.

“I’ve never been in hospital on my birthday before but I have received lots of cards and flowers and I have had a lot of visitors,” she said. Before her retirement, she worked as a nanny and a Sunday school teacher before taking over the running of the British Legion Club in Dudley with her husband.

When pressed about her reasons for her longevity the centenarian says it is all down to her sunny and relaxed outlook towards life.
