Koren will be an Albion star
Thursday 18th January 2007, 12:07AM GMT.
Boss Tony Mowbray has told January signing Robert Koren he can become an Albion star for years to come.
The Slovenian international midfielder was Mowbray’s first signing as Albion boss after arriving at The Hawthorns on a Bosman free transfer from Lillestrom this month.
So far the 26-year-old, who agreed an initial 18-month deal with the Baggies with the option of a further year in the club’s favour, has been limited to brief cameo appearances from the bench against Leeds and Luton.
But with Jason Koumas missing Saturday’s trip to Elland Road through suspension, Koren is a candidate to make his first start.
Mowbray has been pleased with Koren’s early impact and has tipped him tobecome a Hawthorns favourite.
“I have been happy enough with what Robert has done in his 10 and 20 minutes on the pitch,” said Mowbray.
“He has shown a willingness and hunger to get on the ball and it looks to me that he will score goals.
“That’s always a plus as a midfield player. He will have a big part to play in the next few years.”
