souey.jpgMore opinions from Express & Star readers on Graeme Souness’s plans to take control of Wolves:

* “If Souness comes with cash from investors as an owner then fine, but if he wants to manage the club for the investors then I don’t want him anywhere near the club. His only sucess has been with a Scottish club and a Turkish one, both of which were in ‘two team divisions’.” Carl, Bucks

* “What an opportunity this is for Wolves to move forward. Unfortunately we have stagnated, particularly since installing Mr Hoddle as the previous manager, with the decreasing gate receipts testimony to this. We now have a dedicated and extremely popular manager that deserves the financial backing of a club the stature of Wolves, and it would appear that Mr. Souness is prepared to put his money where his mouth is!

It must be appreciated the selfless dedication and financial backing that Sir Jack has put into the club, but I feel that now is the time to move aside and let new blood in. Sir Jack now has a chance to rectify this previous error and to pass the reins on to a dedicated football minded person with substantial financial backing! ” Mick Boydell, Wolverhampton

* “In my opinion this proposed takeover of Wolves is exactly what the club needs to move on to the next level. Steve Froggatt got it spot on – Wolves are stagnating under the current board. But the point is this club and the fans deserve more. Wolves need a new face at the helm – someone with the drive and enthusiasm of Souness would be perfect. Sir Jack – many thanks for all you have done for the club, there would be no Wolverhampton Wanderers without you – BUT the time is right to move on. Go now while you can still retain Hero status with the fans. ” Simon, Sandhurst

sirjackpa2.jpg * “Have confidence in Sir Jack. If, as is implied by the press release, he has turned down Souness’s offer, there must be a good reason. Sir Jack’s heart is with the Wolves and as a successful businessman he will know what is right for the club he loves. The £20 million is not all that is needed, common sense says good business and man management skills and the ability to look beyond spend spend spend are important for the future of the club. Dose Souness have these qualities?” John* “On the positive side, clearly Wolves are now in their strongest position for years, with the new training ground, a quality manger with real passion for the club of knowledge of the sport and a young hungy team (including a number of academy players) who play week in week out for the shirt. All of which fans have been screaming out for for ages!! Therefore this Souness deal has come at the best possible time, as with no money in the current pot, wolves are all dressed up with no where to go, in terms of progression and promotion.

However on the down side, I just can’t see someone like Souness letting Mick get on with his job in peace, more like kicking the dressing room door open at half time should things not be going our (his!) way! The other big major concern is what will he do with the young hungry, but somewhat inexperienced squad, when he’s got millions to spend? A major clear out of these players with expensive pre madonna gravy train replacements will not necessarily improve the team, as Wolves fans will be only to aware!” James & Lisa, Brighton
