Face of murder suspect

Sobat Ali died following an assault in Hart Street, Caldmore, on January 2.

The man detectives want to find is described as black, in his early 20s, over 5ft tall, clean shaven and wore a grey hooded top and a blue jacket.

The incident happened at about 6.30pm when Mr Ali, from Caldmore Road, was involved in a struggle with two men.

The incident happened at about 6.30pm when Mr Ali, from Caldmore Road, was involved in a struggle with two men.Mr Ali and three family members had bought jewellery from Laxmi Jewellers in Wednesbury Road, Pleck, as a gift for a relative’s wedding and police believe they were followed back to an address in Hart Street.

Two men entered the home and, after a struggle, his daughter-in-law was slashed in the arm with a knife.

Mr Ali chased the two men but collapsed with a heart attack after he was assaulted. The men drove off in a dark Vauxhall Astra-type car parked up the road and being driven by a third man.

Mr Ali was taken to Walsall Manor Hospital but later died, and Walsall police launched a murder inquiry.
