Originally it was thought the monument in honour of Madeleine Carroll would be on show to the public in November.

However, a series of delays means the £17,000 centrepiece, set for the new town square in West Bromwich, will not been seen this year.

A date for the unveiling will be confirmed in January.

Madeleine, who was born in Herbert Street, is best known for her role in Alfred Hitchcock movie The 39 Steps.
