New delay in soccer fan’s trial

Tuesday 12th December 2006, 11:43AM GMT.

The trial of a Black Country district nurse and Wolves fan accused of taking part in a mass brawl in London’s Leicester Square was today adjourned for a sixth time.

Claire Evans, aged 36, is alleged to have gone on the rampage at Leicester Square Underground station after a Wolves match against West Ham on October 2, 2004.

Evans, formerly of Slatch House Road, Bearwood, a district nurse in Bilston, denies violent disorder.

Her trial was due to start at Southwark Crown Court in London but the court heard she needs daily dressings for a wound and was unfit to attend.

The case was adjourned to January 26 when a new date will be set.
