Bar to import czech lap dancers
Thursday 2nd November 2006, 8:15PM GMT.
A Cannock nightclub is bringing girls over from the Czech Republic to give lap, table and pole dances every afternoon during the week.
The boss of U Bar claims the looming smoking ban left him searching for a new niche. While other bars are cashing in by selling food, he decided to set up a businessmen’s club. 21.
Owner Dougie Wilkinson is going to Prague on Wednesday to interview girls and aims to recruit a team of up to 10 who will be provided with accommodation in the district.
Staff at the Church Street club are now preparing to send invitations to 2,000 firms advertising the businessmen’s club, which starts on November 21.
Mr Wilkinson said lap dancing, table dancing and pole dancing would take place Monday-Friday from 3pm. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday the dancing will be until midnight and on Thursday and Friday it will be until 9.30pm, with the normal club afterwards.
Mr Wilkinson said the girls from Prague would work with English girls to make up a team of 15.
He added: “We are offering a different service because, with the new smoking laws coming in, a lot of the public places will be going towards food.”
U Bar recently had a £350,000 overhaul and is one of the first in the region to require revellers to give thumbprints to get inside.
Inspector Mat Derrick, of Cannock police, said officers in the licensing department would be closely monitoring the club to ensure it did not breach the venue’s licence.
Tom Hobbins, Cannock Chase Council spokesman, said the licence for the bar stated it could put on the proposed entertainment.
