Time to map out a plan for Villa's future
- Says blogger Matthew Turvey
New director at charity
Monday 30th October 2006, 8:14PM GMT.
Formerly project manager within the organisation, which awards around £2.8 million in grants each year, Yvonne (pictured right) is responsible for the day-to-day operational activities including grant programmes, community initiatives and financial management in line with the charities aims and mission.
Leading a team of 15 staff she takes on a responsibility to meet the strategy and objectives set by the chief executive and trustees.
Yvonne Palmer said: “The Birmingham Foundation has made amazing inroads in improving the lives of thousands of people and I am delighted to take a key role in continuing this achievement.”
We do matter and are making a difference. During the last decade we have made contributions to community projects from as little as £50 up to £50,000.”
A women’s self help group, supporting the families of those affected by the tornado and constructing a climbing wall at a residential centre, are but a few of those worthwhile causes we have been delighted to support.
“There were hundreds more projects in between this which made a real lasting difference to many.”
I enjoyed working at the Foundation from the moment I stepped in through the door and this enjoyment has not stopped since. This new role was an opportunity I simply could not resist.”
The Birmingham Foundation has recently revealed that the refurbishment of Nechells Baths, the largest regeneration project undertaken by the Foundation to date, is now almost complete. Acting chief executive of the Foundation, Derek Inman, said: “We are delighted that Yvonne has agreed to accept the role which has been created as a result of a reorganisation within the charity.
“Yvonne will continue to strengthen the efficiency and direction of the Foundation which is an essential mainstay responsibility for us to operate effectively. We are celebrating our tenth year of operation in 2006 and our activity levels are now at an all time high. As our message to the local communities spreads so we are awarding more grants than ever and therefore helping to make a much needed difference to more lives within our more deprived areas of the cities.”
