Keane fans hear concert on CD

Monday 23rd October 2006, 7:38PM BST.

Those who did not have time to join the queue at the Civic Hall after the performance were able to order the £15 CD over the internet. It is thought to be the first time a group has offered fans in Wolverhampton the chance to take home a high-quality copy of its complete live set.

Civic spokesman Jonn Penney said today: “Hundreds of people queued after the show to pick up a CD of the night’s performance.

“Keane had a fantastic reception from their fans and it was great that they were able to listen to the show again in their cars on the way home.”

Last night’s show was Keane’s debut concert in the city. This is their first UK tour since frontman Tom Chaplin was admitted into rehab for problems with drink and drugs and received an amazing reception from the 3,000 strong crowd.

Fans were meanwhile greeted with a tannoy urging them to buy tickets from reputable sources following the theft of 200 blank ones from the box office last week.

A crook swiped the batch from the counter and bosses now fear that fake tickets may be in circulation.

Today they launched a bid to get internet auction site ebay to ban people from selling tickets for forthcoming gigs to prevent counterfeit tickets being snapped up.

Mr Penney said the theft could cause chaos if fans turned up to future sell out concerts with fake passes.

“We are attempting to get ebay to put a stop to sales of Civic and Wulfrun Hall tickets for the time being because that is probably the greatest potential outlet for ticket touts,” he said.
