Traders invited to future summit
Thursday 12th October 2006, 8:57PM BST.
Council leader, Councillor Judith Dalgarno and cabinet member for plan- ning and regeneration Councillor Doug Davis will tell traders on Monday, October 16, of plans for further improvements and developments within Stafford.
In particular, the town’s retailers are keen to hear the latest developments concerning the Riverside Recreation Centre site, which is due to be redeveloped by Trent City Securities, once the new leisure centre on Lammascote Road has been built.
TCS have recently acquired the leasehold of the former Tesco site on Bridge Street, and have expressed an interest in the comprehensive re-development of the site, to tie in with their proposals for the existing Riverside site.
This could eventually become a 300,000sq ft retail and leisure complex, including residential premises, as well as a multi-screen cinema and car parking.
Ian Thompson, the council’s executive director of community services, is due to brief town traders on the project.
Also due to speak at the gathering will be John Commins, project manager at Staffordshire County Council, who will explain more about the forthcoming Waterscape project.
The meeting starts at 3.30pm in the Mountbatten Suite at the Gatehouse Theatre in Eastgate Street.
