Green light for Mowbray
Thursday 12th October 2006, 11:32AM BST.
A West Brom statement said the club expects “to receive confirmation from Hibernian” later today that they have been given permission to speak to Mowbray following talks on Wednesday night.
Hibernian chairman Rod Petrie said: “The club’s discussions with West Bromwich Albion continued late into the evening and an accommodation has been reached which will be confirmed in writing.
“Given the manager’s desire to speak to West Bromwich Albion and the fact that compensation has now been agreed, West Bromwich will reluctantly be given permission to speak to Tony.”

“What Tony achieved at Hibernian was an miracle so let’s all get behind him and hope he does the same at the Baggies.” Bill Weston, Brierley Hill
“Mowbray plays attacking football (something that has been lacking with previous managers) his teams keep their shape and importantly defend very very well. I have no doubt he will shift a couple of players out in Jan (and we know who they are) who are not good enough for the Mowbray course. But with the players we have and Mowbray its back where we belong in the Prem next season.” M Foley
“I’m from Edinburgh and I can tell you that if you get Tony Mowbray, not only Hibs but Scottish football will miss the great football that I have been watching over the last couple of seasons at Easter Road. When TM goes to a club with some money, watch that team go. He has a great football brain and spots a player. Congrats to WBA if they get their man. My team will be poorer without him.” Dean the Hibby
“I did say that Jeremy Peace may surprise us with our next appointment, and although Mogga has yet to be interviewed, yet alone be offered the job, it would be a sound appointment. He’s got great integrity, is a natural leader and although has done well at Hibs has yet to really make his name as a top manager. I hope he gets the job. I’m confident he’d get us back up into the Prem and keep us there where we belong.” Jon Round, Coseley
“Hooray, after nearly two years of negative football at the Hawthorns, it’s good to hear that we may finally have a manager who wants to see passion and pride from his players and have someone in charge who will play the type of football the fans want and deserve.” Kevin Saunders, Wednesbury
