Sutton’s back with friends
Wednesday 4th October 2006, 1:00PM BST.
Sutton has been training on his own but manager O’Neill was keen to tie the free agent to Villa with other clubs showing interest.”It’s nice to be back with Martin, Steve Walford and John Robertson and I’m looking forward to getting started and stuck into training,” said Sutton.
“I’ve known the three of them for five years at Celtic and I know the way they work, so I’m not really surprised they’ve started so well here at Villa.
“It’s been a good start for Villa and hopefully we can continue that throughout the season.
“I think it’s been a positive start for Villa, but that’s all it is – a positive start.
“It’s a hard league and it will be difficult to carry on as we’ve started.
“There will be periods where we certainly have blips, but it’s good to have points on the board and confidence is high.
Sutton is in familiar company at Villa. Aside from the three-strong management team, he rejoins Stiliyan Petrov and Didier Agathe, both team-mates from his Celtic days.
Meanwhile, Luke Moore may head to the America for treatment on his injured shoulder.
