Badger takes on The Wolf
Wednesday 4th October 2006, 10:57PM BST.
Dubbed the battle of the sexes by organisers, Compton Hospice hopes scores of people will go along on the night and take part in the October 28 challenge.
The Badger will be taking on The Wolf’s Dicky Dodd, who is supporting a charity close to his heart.
He said: “I have a personal interest in Compton Hospice as my nan was a patient there before we sadly lost her and I wanted to give something back for the wonderful care that Compton gave her.
“Even my phobia of heights will not deter me, this is one challenge that I will not let the Badger win.”
The hospice treats more than 500 patients free of charge at any one time, and costs approximately £4.9 million a year to run, of which £3.7m comes in donations.
There will be plenty for spectators to do with an entertainment roadshow provided by Mad Mark Daniels, and a chance to abseil from a small mobile climbing wall.
Last month the Badger, from Wednesfield, pulled in £3,000 for the hospice while hosting a question and answer session at Patshull Park for budding businesswomen from around the region. Around 60 visitors flocked to the event.
Another fundraiser for Compton Hospice takes place tomorrow.
A host of Christmas decorations and gifts will be on display at Dobbies Garden World.
Top tips will be given on how to set the perfect Christmas dinner table and how to decorate a Christmas tree during the event from 6.30pm to 9pm.
There will also be a demonstration on turkey trussing from Maidens Butchers, based in Brewood. Pupils from Moorhill Primary School will sing Christmas carols.
To take part in the abseil call Michelle Price on 0845 2255497.
