The event takes place at Molineux from 9.30am to 2.30pm.

More than 30 employers from across Wolverhampton will be at the event to showcase the career opportunities available to city jobseekers.

They include Jaguar Land Rover, UTC Aerospace Systems, Wolverhampton Homes, McDonalds, National Express, Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, the Armed Forces, Eurofins, Angel Springs, Allied Health Care and BCA Logistics.

The Ladder for the Black Country is backed by local councils, MPs, and the Duke of York who visited the Express & Star last week.

So far 100 new apprenticeships have been created by the scheme which is a partnership between the Express & Star, charity the Vine Trust, training provider Performance Through People, and the Black Country Chamber of Commerce.

There have been 144 from people looking to get an apprenticeship and 38 employers are still in discussion about creating new roles.

Gill Durkin, Business Development Director at Performance Through People, said: "We firmly believe that the local people of Wolverhampton have access to some really good advice and guidance to help them secure their first job or return to work. Following the successful launch of the Ladder for the Black Country we are urging everyone who is seeking training or job opportunities to visit the Wolverhampton Jobs Fair. Everyone will have the opportunity to meet representatives of the ladder team and other partners to discuss real job opportunities".

The Black Country suffers from the worst youth unemployment in the country with more than 8,000 youngsters in the dole queues.

We are asking all businesses to consider taking on an apprentice - and asking young people to grab the opportunity to get into work.
