The Baggies ace was on hand to distribute the awards as more than 300 eager footballers and basketball players flocked to the ground.

Representatives from the girls' centre of excellence, ladies' football and basketball teams flooded the Richardson Suite for a night of celebration.

Sporting Club Albion is an integral part of the Albion Foundation and provides an opportunity for the local community to wear the Baggies' colours in a range of sports.

The club has more than 250 players and 20 teams. Brunt happily handed out awards and posed for photos with the award winners in each age group.

Individual trophies were given for the players' player, coach's player and parents' Player of the Year. As is the tradition in basketball, they had a most valuable player (MVP) award.

Compered by girls centre of excellence manager Louise Scott, the night featured a multitude of videos and photos.

It showcased the highlights of an action-packed season which included the under-16 boys' basketball team remaining unbeaten all season.

The Sporting Club Albion Ladies side also reached the County Cup final and progressing to the quarter-finals of the Women's FA Cup where they came up against Women's Super League side Manchester City.

Rob Lake, director of the foundation, said: "It was fantastic to see such an excited crowd at another of our end of season awards nights. The atmosphere was electric.

"We really appreciate Chris taking time out of his day to join us. Being on stage for the players to have their photo with, really made the night special for them.

"There is a great trust and respect between the coaches and I felt that was demonstrated with their speeches. I cannot speak highly enough of the group and all I can say is, bring on next season."

The night also featured the announcement that the Sporting Club Albion set up would revert back to West Bromwich Albion as of next season, meaning all teams will play under the Baggies name.

The evening ended with the distribution of the Peter Rippington Award, long standing supporter of all levels of football.

He was a teacher at Alvechurch School and father of former Club Albion player Amy, who tragically lost his life in early 2012.

He was renowned for being loyal, selfless, and hard working in every aspect of his life, and the recipient of this award, shares such traits.

The award is given to the player who, in the eyes of the ladies' coaching team and senior playing staff, has represented the SCA badge with the same loyalty and dedication that Peter represented his family, his school and his community.

This year, the award was dedicated to four Sporting Club Albion Ladies players – Kelly Darby, Hazzana Parnell, Eleanor Clarke and Billie Haynes – who have lost relatives throughout the season.

The awards for Sporting Club Albion Ladies were not distributed due to the team still having a number of games remaining as they battle for the league title and the opportunity to be promoted to the Women's Super League.
