They beat Huddersfield 29-20, with Josh Trinham, Connor Nicholls, and veteran Nathan Bressington all getting tries.

Mitchell said: "We had a few injury problems after a good pre-season but it's starting to come together now. I've got high hopes for these boys, they are starting to gel.

"The defining matches are the next two, against South Leicester and Sedgley Park, and will play a huge part in deciding where we finish this season."

In National League Three Midlands, Old Halesonians scored an emphatic 41-0 victory over Sutton Coldfield.

Having been handed their first defeat of the season the week prior, Hales needed to respond well and Chris Hooper eased the nerves with an early penalty.

Hales are now second in the table, three points behind Hinckley, who are yet to lose.

In Midlands Two West, Wolverhampton remain at the top after a 22-6 success over bottom-of-the-table Harborne.

Kidderminster are now fourth after a 58-28 win over Handsworth.

Stafford secured their second victory of the campaign, winning 19-8 at Shrewsbury, but Stourbridge Lions lost 21-13 against Old Yardleians.

Despite coach Gary Summers insisting his Wednesbury side had their best performance of the season so far, they lost 14-11 at Eccleshall.

Wednesbury remain win-less in Midlands Three West. Man of the Match Marcus Taylor got two penalties and a try for them, but they were beaten in the final minutes by a converted try.

Cannock continued their impressive start to the campaign with a 22-9 win over Willenhall, while Burntwood were beaten 22-12 by Clee Hill.

Bloxwich remain rock bottom after a crushing 70-0 defeat at Cleobury Mortimer.

In Midlands Four West, Rugeley extended their unbeaten run to three games after a 24-7 victory over Telford Hornets.

Aldridge took another huge blow in the form of a 79-0 defeat at Bromyard.

Essington are now leading Midlands Five West by three points after a narrow 20-18 win over St Leonards.
