Pastor Roger Maynard has welcomed some of his congregation to his new Caribbean takeaway called Divine Cuisine

Roger Maynard has been helping the congregation at Willenhall New Testament Church of God through lockdown recently opening up the church in Upper Lichfield Street once again.

But he has also found time to launch Divine Cuisine Caribbean Takeaway, a few minutes away in Bilston Street, Willenhall, and says his new venture is proving popular with church-goers too.

The 55-year-old has run his Divine Cuisine outside catering business for 20 years but recently decided to expand. He said: “We do catering, weddings, funerals and corporate functions.

“We have always done that but have had to diversify because of people not being able to meet due to the pandemic. We have a had a great response.”

Mr Maynard, who previously served for five years as assistant pastor at the Dudley New Testament Church of God, was born and raised in Birmingham but now lives in Tipton. He runs the business with his wife, Melanie.

He said: “We have a membership of about 95. We have services on a Sunday – we have just opened up again. The congregation is using the takeaway as well.”
