The stage version of the popular film will be at the Lichfield Street theatre in September 2014.

The production has been written by Eleanor Bergstein who was the co-producer of the 1987 film and it features all the same characters and original dialogue from the iconic movie with extra scenes added in.

The show was launched in September 2011 but since then has been seen by more than one million people and it recently returned to the West End for a run before it goes on a new UK tour next year.

Bosses at the Grand say tickets will go on sale on Friday at 10am and spokeswoman Kate Evans said: "Demand is expected to be high, so early booking is advisable."

Casting for the show is to be announced at a later date.

It is one of a series of high-profile shows at the theatre in the coming months.

Next month Wet Wet Wet frontman Marti Pellow will be taking on the coveted role of Che in Evita.

In October former Starsky and Hutch star Paul Michael Glaser will be staring in a production of Fiddler On The Roof.

And this year's pantomime will see TV funnyman Joe Pasquale appearing in Sleeping Beauty.
