Bootcamp days to get youngsters outside after lockdown

A new bootcamp adventure has launched at Baggeridge Country Park for young people through the summer.

Challenge Academy, based at Baggeridge Adventure, is has launched the Summer Reboot Camp for seven to 15 year olds. Summer Reboot Camp for has been designed to get young people outside again after spending months indoors due to the coronavirus lockdown. It has been put together to “help and inspire” youngsters.

The Summer Reboot Camp activities and adventures include a new obstacle course, high ropes, ground challenges, nets adventure, team activities, woodland challenges, forest skills, bushcraft and more.

The sessions are delivered by experienced teachers, outdoor practitioners and ex-military instructors.

Camps will run from Monday to Thursday, between 10am and 3pm, and cost £35 per child for the day. The Summer Reboot Camp sessions will run until Thursday, August 27.

It is Covid secure and measures have been put in place to ensure social distancing, with numbers allowed limited and advanced booking essential.

Mel Ellis, managing director of Challenge Academy, said: “We have launched the Summer Reboot Camp for young people and children socialising with each other again in a safe environment.

"It is based at Baggeridge Adventure where we have high ropes, climbing wall, an adventure course, we have a new obstacle course and challenges working as a team. They have been really popular so far and the children have loved the opportunity to get outside.

“It is not just doing the obstacles and the high ropes, it is lots of team building activities, problem solving activities – it is just getting them socialising again after lockdown and it has proved really popular.”
