The Saturdays launch their new calendar in Birmingham

Glamorous girl group The Saturdays made it a day to remember for starstruck fans at the launch of their new calendar.

Queues had gathered all afternoon at the HMV store at the Fort Shopping Centre in Birmingham yesterday for a chance to meet group members Una Heely, Frankie Sandford, Vanessa White and Rochelle Wiseman.

The fifth member of the pop group, Mollie King, was unable to make the event due to illness. The stars who combined towering heels with trendy outfits had their photographs taken with their fans and chatted to them about their time in America as well as signing calendars, photographs and even plaster casts.

One of the excited fans was 17-year-old Megan Radford, of Dunstall Ave-nue, Whitmore Reans in Wolv- erhampton who had tears of joy streaming down her face after she met her favourite pop group.

She said: “I just love them. They said they would follow me on twitter.”

Chad Marsden, aged 17 of Clifton Street, Coseley brought the girl group chocolates. He said: “I am a massive fan, and I have seen them 12 times already in the past four years. I got them to sign the photographs I had taken with them last time.”

Kyle Orchard, aged 12 of Olinthus Avenue, Wednesfield was in the queue with his parents. He said: “Frankie is my favourite, she is just gorgeous.”

The band have been out in Los Angeles, promoting themselves to the Am-ericans. Frankie said: “We are just back here for 10 days, while we launch the calendar, then we will be going back again. But we can’t stay away for long as we are home birds really.”
