Illness sees Joan Collins miss more shows
Thursday 30th December 2010, 11:30AM GMT.
Hollywood superstar Joan Collins has missed another two panto performances and it is not yet known when she will return to the Birmingham stage.
The former Dynasty star who is playing Queen Rat in Dick Whittington at Birmingham Hippodrome is believed to have missed yesterday’s matinee and evening shows after falling ill with flu.
It comes after she dropped out of both her matinee and evening performances on Tuesday as well as two on December 22.
Birmingham Hippodrome and Qdos Pantomimes, the producers of the pantomime, were both unavailable for comment earlier today, however, a member of the theatre staff answering calls this morning confirmed she had not played a part in any performances yesterday.
Collins, aged 77, is part of a star-studded line-up appearing in the pantomime including Nigel Havers and Julian Clary. She has already spoken of the exhausting schedule on her Twitter site @joancollinsobe. On December 27 she wrote: “12 panto perfs a week leaves time 4 nothing except sleeping eating & performing!”
Qdos Pantomimes has said confirmation of the line-up will only be given half an hour before the performances.
Spokesman Ian Sandy said yesterday that Joan was devastated at not being able to perform due to illness.
