Take That tour to call at Villa Park

The fully-reformed Take That today announced they will be heading to Birmingham as part of a new UK tour – their first as a five-piece for years.

The pop stars will play at Villa Park on June 27 as part of a summer tour next year.

It will be the band’s first tour with Robbie Williams for 15 years.

Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Howard Donald, Jason Orange and Robbie made the announcement at a press conference in London today.

“We’re not here to tell you about any rumours – we’re here to give you the facts,” lead singer Gary informed the waiting press at the Savoy Hotel in London.

The band said they would be touring next May and June, with the first gig kicking off in Sunderland on May 30.

“It will be a spectacular stadium tour,” said Gary as the band reeled off the list of tour dates across the nation.

“It is going to be a big production show, we’re not going to release the theme just yet.”

Tickets for the concerts go on sale on Friday at 9am.

Today’s announcement follows hot on the heels of the group receiving the Q Hall of Fame award at a ceremony in London yesterday.

Their new single, The Flood, will be released next month with new album Progress available later in the month.
