DJ Stuart Ojelay’s club guide - February 22
Last weekend was great with some fantastic events around, writes Stuart Ojelay. I had a flying visit to Prague and even though I was there for less than 24hrs the gig was awesome and vibe high!
Then I was back to play at GLAS. Congrats to all involved whom packed them in for a daytime party on a Sunday, which meant I was a tad slow out the blocks this week!
So let’s take a look where you can fix those third week blues this weekend.
Keepin it Nice is a Funk & Soul event brought to you by Danny Kane and guests hosted at The Vaults in Birmingham. It always attracts the who’s who of the city and is well worth checking out.
Hannah Wants who was featured in Mixmag as ‘One to Watch’ in 2013 makes her return to Whatever at Gorgeous Bar in Wolverhampton tonight. House and Bass are in order here for this popular Friday night shindig with support from Danny Jones and Chris Steele.
Paparazzi have brought in some big names to Walkabout in Wolverhampton and tonight is no exception with the arrival of Wideboys to their decks.
This well supported duo have made the urban, bass to house crossover their own with gigs all over the world and a radio show that reaches thousands on a weekly basis.
Moving into Saturday and I have three big events to tell you about in the second city.
Firstly there’s Crystal at Nuvo. There new branded launch kick starts with guest DJ MG from London plus residents K Bsides and Jusoul with nothing but a quality eclectic soundtrack. Crystal décor, Sidders on percussion plus a live violinist make this a break from the norm.
Hed Kandi land back in Birmingham at Gatecrasher where you’ll be met by bespoke décor and a first class production that rivals anywhere in the UK. Resident Hed Kandi DJ Andy Daniels will be in charge of supplying you the finest big room house music.
I too shall be repping Hed Kandi this weekend as I make one of longest trips ever for a gig! I’m heading to central Brazil to Maringa, which is meant to have a wild party scene so, can’t wait to experience it!
