She has racked up the kind of album sales most singers could only dream of and is used to performing in front of world leaders including the Pope.
But when Charlotte Church visited Wolverhampton her gigs were a little more low key.
The Welsh star lined up a surprise appearance at the University of Wolverhampton yesterday afternoon performing in front of around 200 people in the sports hall to drum up support for her show at the city’s Slade Rooms last night.
Despite her wealth and impressive singing pedigree she could have passed for one of the students. Her appearance has changed and the classical music has been replaced by a more ‘alternative’ offering.
The 550 capacity Slade Rooms was only half full last night, but the 27-year-old singer said she is enjoying her new approach. She told the crowd: “You might have noticed I’ve gone for a slightly different thing. I’m having a ball.”
