The rock band, who are also heading to Wolverhampton Civic Hall in November, have had to cancel a string of shows after Gem Archer was admitted to hospital following an accident.

They are due to perform at V Festival at Weston Park in 10 days and it is not clear whether they will be able to go ahead with the show on the 4music stage. Festival bosses say until they hear otherwise the group is still on the bill for the Sunday night performance.

The musician is currently in a stable condition but is in hospital under observation following the accident on August 1, according to a statement on the band's website.

The statement continues: "His family, friends and bandmates thank everyone who have sent messages of support and well wishes so far and hope to see him back on his feet soon. An update on his condition will follow."

The nature of the accident has not been made public.

Concerned fans have taken to social networking websites with messages of support for the 46-year-old performer.

His wife, Lou, tweeted: "Thanks for all your support and well wishes during this awful time. I know he will appreciate it. Hopefully he'll be back on his feet soon. X".

Bandmate Andy Bell wrote on the social networking site: "Wanna wish my brother @gemarcherbe a speedy recovery X".

The band cancelled shows in Belgium and Japan as a result of the accident. They are also still scheduled to perform at V Festival in Chelmsford, Essex on August 17.
