One Direction star Liam Payne pops in to Wolverhampton Pizza Hut

It is not often a global superstar pops into your local Pizza Hut for a quick bite. And customers in Wolverhampton could not believe their eyes when One Direction star Liam Payne made a surprise appearance – shortly after going to the nearby cinema.

The X Factor boy band singer from Bushbury was back on home turf when he was spotted at Cineworld and Pizza Hut in Bentley Bridge.

But unlike some of his bandmates, there was no entourage and burly security guards for the down-to-earth local lad who was happy to pose with staff and fans for snapshots.

Liam, who is an ex-student at St Peter’s Collegiate, was reportedly at the movies with his girlfriend to see Despicable Me 2.

Staff at Cineworld posted pictures on to Twitter and were the envy of all their friends.

Steph Griffiths who works at the cinema posted on the micro blogging site: ‘Can’t believe I met Liam Payne tonight out of 1d!!! Had a photo and everything!’, before adding ‘perks of the job’.

The 1D fan also posted a picture of the star’s signature and wrote: ‘Liam Payne used my pen’.

Pizza Hut Restaurant bench manager Dominic McAndrew said: “With Harry Styles at the Glasgow Hut earlier this year, it seems the One Direction boys can’t get enough of Pizza Hut Restaurants. Liam was really friendly to the team and diners.”

Despite his worldwide fame Liam regularly returns to the Black Country. Last month he showed up in the audience at the Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton to watch a performance of Ghost: The Musical.

He was also mobbed by fans outside Nandos, in Queen Street.

The star came home for a family Christmas in Wolverhampton in December enjoying his dinner at the Penn Tandoori.

Who care's?

Joe Anderson

I didn't care enough about the 1D story to comment - but I care about grammar. I'll take that ' from you, I'll find it a safe, warm home where it won't be abused.

JBird

That's one of the funniest things I've read on here Joe!!!

johnwaynessaddlebag

which one is it !!!!!

pete

Nice to see the lad remember where he came from and happily posed for pic's and signed autographs for people, I just hope they charged him and not usually got it gratis as many places do with celeb's, I'm just a cynic though !

gold and black blood

yes nice to see he has not forgot his root, BUT why is it everytime he goes out he has to be splashed across the paper like its world breaking headlines....do we get photos of bully everytime he pops down the shop for a take away NO,do we get photos of bev knight everytime she pops in the shops to get something NO.come on e&s leave the kid alone to enjoy his 15 mins of fame because im sure that in 5 years time that you will not be printing storys of "ex pop star was today seen in asda doing his shopping" ...

bilstonian

Maybe because Bully is always in the paper anyway, and Bev Knight hasn't actually achieved fame!!

gold and black blood

bully is in the paper because he has done something for the Community or because of being on the sports pages, not because hes gone to the grand to see a show or gone to town xmas shopping or a meal out.

"Bev Knight hasn't actually achieved fame"..10 top 20 albums,10 mobo awards,8 sell out tours, sung to a world wide audience at the paralympics opening ceremony, awarded an mbe for services to music and the work she does on behalf of several charities and now staring in the westend in the bodyguard..achieved nothing hey !!!

Eileen
