McFly received a rapturous welcome on their return to the Midlands for the latest stop on their new tour.

Strictly Come Dancing sensation Harry Judd and I'm a Celebrity winner Dougie Poynter rejoined bandmates Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones on the road for the first time since their reality TV triumphs.

And they could not have wished for a more devoted crowd as Birmingham's O2 Academy rocked to an energetic two-hour set.

Last night's gig was the latest in the 26-date Keep Calm and Play Louder tour. But there was nothing calm about the gig which chronicled their eight-year career as they prepare to launch their sixth studio album.

They played new material like Red but it was favourites Star Girl and Five Colours In Her Hair which drew the loudest cheers.
