Newly-single opera star Katherine Jenkins thanked her fans for their continued support during an emotional concert at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall.

The singer, who recently split from Welsh fiancé TV presenter Gethin Jones, told the crowd last night that she still loved performing and was at her happiest up on the stage.

The 31-year-old split from Jones, ending their four-year relationship, over the Christmas period.

Despite her recent heartbreak, Jenkins pulled off a stunning show at the Symphony Hall in front of a sell-out crowd.

The mezzo-soprano performed a selection of songs, classic as well as modern.

She performed Tonight from West Side Story with American singer Nathan Pacheco, who went on to sing a beautiful version of Nessun Dorma.

Also in Jenkins’ back catalogue were the songs In The Arms Of an Angel, Time to Say Goodbye and Over The Rainbow, helped along the way by the National Symphony Orchestra.

Jenkins appeared on stage in a variety of sequined dresses throughout her concert and took time to answer of few written questions from the audience.

She received a deserved standing ovation at the end of the evening.
