Just days ago he was facing elimination from TV talent show X Factor – but now a budding singer from the Black Country is enjoying red carpet success alongside a host of A-list stars.
The reality show hopefuls Kingsland Road – who include 19-year-old Wolverhampton singer Jay Scott – were dressed to impress when they saw the Thor: Dark World premiere in Leicester Square and mingled with the likes of Natalie Portman.
Portman plays scientist Jane Foster in the popular Thor series and joined co-stars Tom Hiddleston, heartthrob Chris Hemsworth, former Doctor Who Christopher Eccleston and Luther favourite Idris Elba.
For Jay and the rest of Kingsland Road – who nearly got booted off the show last weekend when they survived a live sing-off against Shelley Smith – it was one of their first experiences of fame.
They donned sharp suits, as well as baseball caps, in front of hordes of adoring fans for the London premiere.
The teenager grew up in Eastfields and recently said he had been overwhelmed with messages of goodwill from people in his hometown.
Kingsland Road sang Pink hit Try to triumph in Sunday’s sing-off after surprisingly losing a flash vote the night before.
But former South Wolverhampton and Bilston Academy pupil Jay will still be hopeful of following in the footsteps of fellow Wolverhampton X Factor star Liam Payne, who shot to fame two years ago when One Direction finished third.
Students at Jay’s old school have been so impressed with his performances they have set up a tribute wall in his honour.
The Thor film is the third in the series, set after the events of 2012’s Avengers Assemble, and sees estranged brothers Thor and Loki join forces to defend Asgard from Malekith and the Dark Elves.
Thor: The Dark World, which was partly shot in London, opens in cinemas on Wednesday, October 30.
