Friends group secretary Nikki Freeman appeals for photographs for a new competition

Saltwells Nature Reserve, which borders Brierley Hill, Netherton and Quarry Bank, covers 250 acres and was named as a national nature reserve last year.

Calendars produced during the past two years featuring scenes at the nature reserve have proved so popular The Friends group has decided to launch a competition.

They are asking photographers to concentrate on three themes, Saltwells in Winter, Hidden Secrets and A New Perspective.

Nikki Freeman, secretary of The Friends group said: “There are more than 140 public access entrances to the site but limited parking and the reserve has proved very popular with local people during the lockdown.

“The reserve has three sites of Special Scientific Interest for geology and a scheduled ancient monument.”
