Funnyman Daniel Townes emerged as one of Australia's hottest comedy prospects almost a decade ago and went onto become an established name on the stand-up circuit.

His laidback style has endeared him to audiences the world over, with sell-out gigs in Singapore, Germany, Spain, Ireland, South Africa, Canada, Holland, and all over the UK.

Townes remains a huge draw in his native Australia, where he's worked everywhere from Mildura to Broken Hill and Griffith to Wodonga.

He's also a veteran of the British stand-up scene and West Midlands fans will get the chance to enjoy his act when he headlines Birmingham's Glee Club tonight and tomorrow (August 30-31).

Townes has enjoyed a successful start to the decade. Last year, he recorded his first live DVD Previously at the Sydney Comedy Store, and was shortlisted for both the People's Choice Award and title of Sydney's Best Comedian in the 2011 Time Out Magazine Awards during the Sydney Comedy Festival.

As well as being a regular at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival and the Sydney Comedy Festival, he has also performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the prestigious invite-only Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, the latter providing kudos that is aspired to by the whole industry.

Townes will be supported by Susan Murray and Keith Fannan and tickets are available from the Glee Club by visiting www.glee.co.uk or calling 0871 472 0400.
