The Black Country Living Museum is hosting the Industrial Might exhibition from today, marking the region's worldwide reputation for its manufacturing prowess, with its goods exported to the furthest reaches of the planet.

Staff will be on hand across the Bank Holiday weekend to take families back in time with all the regular attractions like the mine and the boat yard as well as the extra demonstrations and activities offering visitors a feel for what it would have been like to live and work in this period.

Jonathan Wilson, deputy chief executive of collections, learning and research at the museum, said: "The extra activities we have on this bank holiday weekend will allow visitors to immerse themselves in industry and discover why the Black Country became famous for its manufacturing prowess.

"Visitors will be able to experience the industrial might of the region and how day-to-day life would have been – noisy, smoky and full of energy.

"It's easy to forget the conditions that people used to work in and how they used to live.

"The museum brings this to life and we welcome visitors to celebrate the story of the region."

The Industrial Might event takes place until Monday.
