Charles Hanson and Natasha Raskin were at Cuttlestones Auctioneers in Pinfold Street, Penkridge, on Wednesday.

The pair were filming for the BBC's Antiques Road Trip, which sees experts set off on a journey around the UK searching for treasures and competing to make the most money at auction.

Hanson and Raskin, armed with the antiques they had collection nationwide, descended on the market town to auction off the items. Dave Eglington, auctioneer and valuer, said: "They were filming for the Antique Road Trip where they go around the country in cars finding various antiques.

"They arrived early doors and brought the stuff in for auction to try and get it sold off.

"There was quite a lot of things they sold. It ranged from ceramics to clothing – there were 11 bits in total. They went to the market as well to do a bit of filming to show Penkridge as a market town."

Bumper crowds packed out the auction room for the visit of the TV stars. The show is currently in its 12th season.

Mr Eglington added: "They were here filming for the Antiques Road Trip before and we've done the celebrity Antique Road Trip too. It was a couple of years ago.

"It usually attracts a large crowd when they come along.

"Both of them were really nice and made time for people who came along and signed autographs."
