The application was lodged by the team behind the Horse & Jockey in the Woodcross area of Coseley, and earmarks an empty shop unit between Nando's and Rejuvenate beauty salon.

The bar, which will have a 'history of Wolverhampton' theme, is expected to be called The Dispensary, a nod to the city's first public health facility which opened on Queen Street in 1826.

The main ground floor area will have the capacity

for around 30 customers, while the first floor, with 25 seats, will be used for private functions, or as an overflow area.

Planning officers at Wolverhampton Council said the micropub would bring a vacant space back into use, with no harm being caused to the vitality or viability of the surrounding area.
