Twelve-year-old Harry Egerton has just returned to his Halesowen home after six months living in London with fellow cast members of Andrew Lloyd Webber's School of Rock The Musical.

Now Harry is back focusing on his schoolwork at The Earls High School, but he found time to show off his skills in the classroom.

Mother Julie praised the school for their support, and for ensuring he was able to keep up with his classmates by sending work via a dedicated tutor at the 'School of Rock' house.

Harry is still reeling from the life-changing role, which has cemented his desire for a lifelong acting career.

He said: "It has been unbelievable – getting to perform every single day. And to get to live with the people you are performing with. That has been one of the most fun things."

Ahead of securing the West End role as a roadie in the musical, Harry's talents were developed by teacher James Gullick from Dudley Performing Arts and the late Chris Groucutt, son of ELO's Kelly Groucutt, who helped Harry with his guitar playing.

Asked about the audience response to the musical, Harry said: "It is the best feeling, and to get that every single night. I know I want to keep on doing this for the rest of my life."

Julie added: "I'm really proud. It was hard him being away from home in London, but it was such a big opportunity and he really enjoyed it."

School of Rock is the biggest show Harry has starred in, but he has performed in a host of other shows.
