A message on Jorja's YouTube channel says the star was inspired to write the song, entitled Beautiful Little Fools, after reading The Great Gatsby at the age of 16.

It says she was particularly inspired by Daisy, who says of her infant daughter: "I hope she'll be a fool — that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool."

Jorja took issue with this statement and so used the phrase to form the basis of her song, in which she laments the restrictions that society and established social constructs place upon women.

She is also sporting a new shaved head hairdo.

The Walsall singer will play the O2 Academy in Birmingham on April 1 - and will continue to tour the UK until April 7.
