Simpsons, at Edgbaston, and Carter's, in Moseley, will this weekend be named in The Sunday Times Top 100 Restaurants.

Both hold a Michelin star and they are among just three in the region that have been named in the UK's best, with the other being the two Michelin star Restaurant Sat Bains, in Nottingham.

Ludlow, however, has missed out.

The Shropshire market town used to have a number of entrants in the Top 100 but no longer has any Michelin star restaurants.

Simpsons was the first Birmingham restaurant to win a Michelin star and was at the vanguard of the city's gastronomic revolution, paving the way for four others to win stars: Carter's, Adam's, Purnell's and Turner's.

The restaurant's head chef is Nathan Eades.
