A live show preceded a live screening of the 30th edition of World Wrestling Entertainment's Royal Rumble from the US at Rileys Sports Bar in Wolverhampton on Sunday. A 'Rileys Rumble' was held at the Broad Street venue, with spectators staying on to watch the WWE bill.

Promoter and grappler Matt Powell, from Walsall, brought his Pro Wrestling Live organisation to Rileys.

The offering was also topped by their own 30-man over the top rope 'Rumble', where 28 competitors joined the fray 30 seconds at a time after two started the bout.

Hendrix was pinned but still won the rumble

British champion Andy Hendrix, of Halesowen, outlasted 29 opponents to retain his title despite being the number draw, last dumping Tom Mason to the floor.

He had been pinned by Mason earlier in the evening, the non-title affair offering the winner the number 30 position and impairing the loser to going out first.

Mad Dog Maxx, Powell's alter ego, opened the action with a victory over Big Paulie, who succumbed to the three-count from a backslide.

CJ Rose and James Venom beat Saxon Cage and Mr Selfie in a tag team match, Rose scoring the victory for his tandem by pinfall over Cage.

Around 100 customers were still at Rileys at the end of the main WWE event, won by Randy Orton. Rileys and the PWL next plan a Wrestlemania 33 double show on April 2.
