A former funeral parlour could become a wine bar if planning permission is granted this week.

Twenty people have objected to the plans for Co-op Funeral Care, Walsall Wood Road, Lazy Hill.

Another person has supported the application.

Opponents say the development would be inappropriate and more suited to the centre of Aldridge.

Developers want to open the wine bar from 8am to 2am every day.

Staff would start work 30 minutes either side of the opening and closing times under the plans. But environmental health officers at Walsall Council say those hours should be limited.

Officers have outlined 9am to 11pm, on Sunday to Thursday, and from 9am to 11.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Neighbours are concerned about a possible increase in noise and traffic.

The change of use application will be heard by members of Walsall Council's planning committee at a meeting on Thursday.
