New baby grand piano installed at Wolverhampton's Grand Theatre

A brand new baby grand piano has been installed at a Wolverhampton theatre and will now be available for people to showcase their musical talents.

The Grand Theatre, based on Lichfield Street, welcomed the new baby grand piano to its Encore Lounge on the ground floor earlier this week.

Until now, the Encore Lounge has played host to a number of live stand-up comedy evenings, and a brand new season of comedy has just gone on sale.

The lounge has also seen two popular evenings of jazz music, courtesy of the Brian Humpherson Trio. Now, the theatre is calling for budding local pianists to trial the piano and showcase their talents in an 'open-mic' style series of opportunities.

The theatre is looking forward to giving opportunities to musicians, particularly those who are looking for performance experience which could lead to a period of residency at the theatre as the programme for future performances in the Encore Lounge develops.

Opportunities will include the chance to perform in the Encore Lounge before performances take place in the main auditorium and then again during the interval.

There will also be the possibility of performing at the Theatre's Gala and Press Nights which are attended by many of the stars and actors appearing in the productions.
