The Grannies, also known as Black Country comedy act the Fizzogs, will jet across the pond in the summer to strut their stuff on the streets of New York city.

The move follows numerous requests from American fans who are among more than 300 million people who have viewed the Grannies' dance routines on social media.

Now the Fizzogs are looking for sponsorship to help fund the trip.

Member Deb Nicholls said: "The plan is to take America by storm.

"We aim to flashmob in New York this summer as the Americans keep asking when we are coming over.

"It'll cost an arm and a leg to get there so we are looking for sponsorship.

If there are any potential sponsors out there and you feel The Dancing Grannies need more support then get in touch with us and we'll have a natter." The Fizzogs have already been booked to perform their Grannies routines at the Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix in April.

The opportunity arose after the performers caught the eye of a talent scout from the Middle East at the Edinburgh Fringe during the summer.#

Closer to home their new show Suck It And See is currently touring around the Midlands with performances at the Rose Theatre, Kidderminster, on February 4; Theatre on the Steps, Bridgnorth, on February 9, 10 and 11; Gatehouse Theatre, Stafford, on February 18; Core Theatre, Solihull, on March 4; Oakengates Theatre, Telford, on March 10; Atrix Theatre, Bromsgrove, on March 11; and the Swan Theatre, Worcester, on March 24.
