James and the Red Balloon will be installed in Thomas Land, a section of the theme park devoted to characters from the Thomas The Tank Engine children's book series.

The ride, which opens on April 1, will give visitors an extensive view of the park which recently underwent a £2.5 million expansion.

The latest arrival will join 20 other rides and attractions based on the popular children's character.

They include Flynn's Fire Rescue, Toby's Tram Express and Captain's Sea Adventure which opened in 2015.

Visitors can sit in replica hot-air balloon baskets which will be raised to a height of around five feet as the ride takes off, spinning at a maximum speed of 5.5 revolutions per minute.
