Stafford's wok'n'roll panto Aladdin breaks record

Aladdin the 'wok 'n' roll' panto has proved to be such a huge hit with audiences it has broken box office records.

The critically-acclaimed show entertained 18,176 people at Stafford Gatehouse Theatre between December 8 and January 8.

The numbers beats previous best figures of 18,108 for last season's show, as well as the former box office record holder, Jack and the Beanstalk.

Councillor Mike Smith, cabinet member for leisure and culture at Stafford Borough Council, said: "This was a fantastic panto and thoroughly deserves record-breaking box office success.

"It was great to see families of all generations laughing and singing along together as they enjoyed top performances by the cast, made possible by the superb support of the production team."
